Accomplishments

We are fortunate to have a wonderful staff and Council in Fletcher! Because of them, we have accomplished so much! Listed are the things that we have accomplished over the years!

  • Greenway Expansion

    • Secured major grant funding to expand the Cane Creek Greenway system:

      • $100,000 from the Connecting Communities to State Trails Program

      • $293,441 from the Great Trails State Program

  • Parks and Recreation

    • Completed a new multi-court project at Bill Moore Park, adding pickleball, basketball, and tennis courts.

    • Repaired and improved Bill Moore Park following Hurricane Helene.

    • Farmers Market

    Town Center Project

    • Continued progress toward developing a Town Center in Fletcher.

    • Demolished aging structures

    • Sidewalks and lightpoles

    • Engineering firm developed several scenarios based on environmental review and analysis on fill requirements

    • Updated marketing materials

    • Project momentum has been slowed due to NCDOT delays, but planning and preparation are ongoing.

  • Support for Town Staff

    • Implemented paid family leave (FMLA) for Town employees.

    • Conducted a comprehensive pay and classification study that increased salaries across all departments, including administration, police, public works, parks and recreation, and planning.

    • Increased pay for Town Staff. Includes administration, parks and recreation, police, public works, and planning.

  • Fiscal Responsibility

    • Lowered property taxes from 34 cents to 28 cents during revaluation.

  • Economic Development

    • Welcomed Tageos (2023) – bringing 64 high-paying jobs with an average salary of $70,203 and a $19.25 million investment.

    • Welcomed CanvasPrints (2021) – creating 96 high-paying jobs and an $11.5 million investment.

    • Relocation and expansion of Rinehart Racing, further investing in Fletcher’s economy.

  • Hurricane Helene Recovery

    • Partnered with Henderson County to accelerate debris pickup.

    • Advocated with state and federal officials for relief support.

    • Worked directly with FEMA.

    • Established a supply distribution center at Town Hall.

  • Public Safety

    • Upgraded body cameras and vehicle cameras for Fletcher Police, with costs covered through state funding.

    • Installed a new crosswalk at FernLeaf Charter School (across Howard Gap Road) in collaboration with FernLeaf and NCDOT.

    • Funding for automated license plate reader cameras to help identify suspect vehicles involved in criminal incidents

Community Involvement

  • AdventHealth Board – Supporting healthcare and community wellness in Henderson County and WNC.

  • Thrive – Promoting mental health, housing stability, and recovery services.

  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of Western North Carolina – Mentoring and empowering youth across the region.

  • Land of Sky Regional Council – Collaborating with neighboring communities on planning, transportation, and regional initiatives.

  • Commission on the Future of NC Elections – Working to strengthen and protect democracy in North Carolina.

  • Governor’s Recovery Office for Western North Carolina (GROW NC) Advisory Committee – Supporting state-level disaster recovery and resilience planning.

  • Hunt Policy Fellows (Alumni Network) – Contributing to childhood education, public policy development and statewide leadership.
